it’s no secret that i love winter weddings.
i find that couples who choose to go down the road less traveled in the wedding world are my favorites. i am not sure if it is the
snow chill in the air, the soft winter lighting or the furs that get to me. but they truly make me bummed out that i didn’t wait just three more months for my wedding! david and olivia’s wedding was all of these combined. i ventured up to the littlest big city in the world for their january nuptials expecting a wonderland of snow. but because of the crazy january drought in the west coast, we were able to photograph nature’s stark and cold winter decor. in other words, dream textures come alive.
fast forward to the evening, olivia and david’s reception was one of a kind. i have never photographed a wedding that had 175+ people that chose to forgoe the dancing and focus on activities, entertainment and games for their guests [iSpy, Mad Libs, chocolate bar, dessert bar, handful of toasts from their parents and bridal party – even the little flower girl serenaded the guests with a song!] it was such a unique and refreshing take on a reception. tk and i loved it.
and what really topped off the evening for me was seeing past bcp family who were present! warmed my little photographer’s heart =]
congratulations olivia + david!
[and yes, olivia, i would love to have a raspberry lemon drop with you!]
