some people are lucky enough to be able to photograph different stages in someone’s life. i have been lucky enough to photograph dayna and cory’s.
and now, their first born.
there tends to be a lot of pressure on newborn sessions – the perfect timing, the perfect weather, the perfect behavior from a new week-old-human, the perfect wardrobe and make-up. but if anyone knows anything about the life of brandnew parenthood, it is that things are not that picture perfect. and so, lifestyle sessions should not bear any disguise otherwise.
this is [one of the reasons] why i appreciate how dayna and cory. they asked me to enter their home and photograph their real life.
cory made it home from work the same time i arrived. dayna was comforting their son. the session was an hour of cuddles with carter, glances full of love between the parents, priceless quiet moments of breastfeeding and lots of baby cries in between. it was imperfectly picture perfect.
smits party of three.
